Platinum Games came out with this unique game in 2010, which subsequently went on to win numerous “Best Game That No One Played” awards across numerous gaming sites for that year. This title is a fun futuristic romp that, for whatever reason, did not sell well; but don’t let the sales statistics turn your head away from what is fast and frenetic blast. The games that this team puts out have always had an innate understanding of gameplay mechanics that somehow rise about their peers, in that they always work well, feel fresh and original, and above all else, are fun.
Vanquish is a 3rd person shooter that bucks the trend of slow-paced methodical cover-based shooters for a game that favours speed, movement and offense. And boy is it refreshing! While the story can be a bit over-the-top (it’s average, but not in a bad way), at the end of the day you won’t care very much because you’ll be having too much fun in one of the coolest robo-suits ever conceived. If you’re looking for a little something to keep you entertained while you wait awhile for next big titles to be released or the next-gen prices to come down, you really can’t go wrong with this original gem of a game.
NOTE: Recommended playing on Normal difficulty setting, even for experienced players, as the Hard difficulty setting begins to detract from the unique gameplay mechanics which make the game fun and unique.
