Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire Trailer Reveals A Titanic Monster Tag Team

The kings of the Monsterverse are back in a new trailer, as Godzilla and Kong find themselves facing a new and mysterious threat in 2024. Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire sees both of the titans team up to take on this hostile force, and it looks like they've received a few upgrades since their last tussle against each other and Mecha-Godzilla turned Hong Kong into a parking lot.

Just what this new contender to Godzilla's throne has yet to be revealed, but director Adam Wingaard has teased a devilish new opponent for the duo that requires them to form the ultimate tag team. "We wanted to come up with an antagonist that would both be a match for Kong and Godzilla, and that's really hard to do," Wingaard said to IGN. "There's a lot more to this character and how he's a threat, and that's going to be something that's going to be fun to kind of dole out."

In the trailer, Godzilla now has pink scales that glow with atomic energy, Kong is seen wearing a mechanical arm brace, and it looks like the ape wonder of the world isn't the last of his species after all. On the human side, Godzilla X Kong sees the return of Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, and Kaylee Hottle. They're joined by new faces Fala Chen, Rachel House, and Dan Stevens. Godzilla X Kong is scheduled to release on April 12, 2024.
