Is this really a football simulation game?

6 months ago we got Fifa 10.
A new football game already and we should ofcourse compare it to Fifa 10.

First of all. The graphics and sounds are better in Fifa World Cup but is that really not important? Not for me it isn't.
What is important is the gameplay and how real the football on the pitch feels and thats why this game for me is a major let down. And I loved FIFA 10 despite the few flaws it was still realistic so this game is a a setback

When longing for the World Cup the first thought is "what fun it will be to see Messi and the Worlds greatest players show off their fast dribbling and carry their nation all the way in the Cup"

Well, that can be forgotten in this game since Messi can't dribble in small spaces here. Both Messi and C Ronaldo gets pushed like 12 year olds even when they are a bit in front of the defender.
Players are even more similar to each other than in Fifa 10 where at least Messi and Cristiano could do a difference. Why shouldn't they be able to run fast with the ball UNDER CONTROL?

The goalkeepers had many flaws in Fifa 10 and some of them have been fixed here. Like the goalkeepers rushing out and getting lobbed over every time. Allthough now they stand still and don't rush out at all so it's really easy and just shoot past them every single time. And the worst is they got new flaws now like shots from no angels going in by the near post despite the goalkeeper standing there.

The passing is a joke. In real football passes are the most time being done by the inside of the foot. In this game we have like half of all passes being done with the outside of the foot.

This is a few of the big let downs in this "simulation". In this modern football where Barcelona and Spain have showed us a new kind of football a simulation game need to follow that. And Fifa World Cup have failed in that apartment. Even its predecessor Fifa 10 was better in this aspect.

Playing a simulation to feel real football?
Then the game needs to improve alot.

Playing a defensive minded game style?
It's impossible.

The defensive AI is just to dumb and to buggy to make one able to play a defensive (think Inter against Barcelona) minded game. The things the AI does is really stupid and it can be everything from the opponent crosses where my defender at first is marking the attacker but the second the cross is struck my defender walks 2 meters away and decides to leave the attacker alone in the box.

Another typical stupid move the AI does is when a deep ball or long ball is made by the opponent. When you are going to control a new defender to cover the space behind the backline the defender at first runs 1-2 steps in the wrong way to make it impossible to get back and cover the space against the running attacker.

This is really stupid and i remember playing both FIFA 98 and PES4 being able to play in a defensive minded way without the AI ruining it with moves I can't control. This really need to be fixed if this game should be able to call itself a simulation.

I never have 0-0 games and sure it might not be the most entertaining but it is one of the most realistic results and therefore possible to play for.
