Already this week, Capcom has revealed that it will be reviving two classic franchises with Street Fighter IV and Bionic Commando. However, the Japanese publisher isn't just about rehashing the old, given that today Capcom announced Dark Void, a new action game slated to hit unnamed platforms next winter.

In Dark Void, humanity finds itself facing a powerful, cosmic threat known as "The Watchers," a godlike alien race that a group of humans managed to banish to an alternate universe after having developed superpowers. Needless to say, The Watchers have now returned. Although gameplay details are still sparse, Capcom is looking to take a unique track with Dark Void by offering "fast-paced vertical combat mixed with midair and on-foot action."

No stranger to midair action, Airtight Games is developing the game for Capcom. Dark Void will be Airtight's first project, but the studio includes several key members of the now-defunct FASA Studios team, which worked on the acclaimed Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge for the original Xbox. Microsoft officially shuttered FASA Studios last month.
