Kinect playable at Microsoft retail outlets

Microsoft debuted its Kinect motion-sensing camera system at last year's E3, and gamers have been reading impressions of the technology ever since. Now they can finally get hands-on with it (in a manner of speaking), as Microsoft is demoing it at its own retail outlets.

The Kinect is available for customers to try today at Microsoft locations in Scottsdale, Arizona; San Diego, California; Mission Viejo, California; and Lone Tree, Colorado. Reached for specifics, Microsoft employees at each outlet (except San Diego, where GameSpot's phone query was not answered) told GameSpot that the Kinect's in-store software lineup included River Rush, Dance Central, Kinect Adventures, Kinectimals, and others.

In 2009, Microsoft announced that it would open physical retail outlets to compete with Apple's brick-and-mortar presence. In addition to the Kinect showing, Microsoft retail outlets sell Zunes, Xbox 360s, Windows-based computers, and other company properties.
