The first downloadable content for Fallout: New Vegas now has a date. The initial add-on for the best-selling role-playing game will arrive on December 21 exclusively on Xbox Live. It will cost 800 Microsoft points, or $10 in real-world currency in the US.

Titled Dead Money, the DLC will see players captured by an unnamed party and dispatched along with three other wasteland wanderers to recover the fabled treasure of the Sierra Madre casino. Though no other plot details were given out, its central quest references the classic 1948 film The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, in which four treasure hunters who uncover a cache of gold in rugged terrain slowly turn on each other.

Dead Money will also feature new "terrain, foes, and choices," but publisher Bethesda Softworks did not elaborate on what they might be. The publisher has also not said whether or not it plans on eventually releasing the DLC for the PlayStation 3 and PC, as it did for Fallout 3's add-ons. However, the company did express a "commitment to creating entertaining add-on content" for New Vegas, hinting that more DLC is on the way.
