According to a report on The Next Web, Angry Birds creator Peter Vesterbacka has confirmed that the game will be coming to the social network starting in May. Previous reports had the game launching this month.

Details on the Facebook edition were slim, other than it would have "completely new aspects to it that just haven't been experienced in any other platform," according to Rovio CEO Mikael Hed. Hed also said that the game's antagonistic pigs would play a larger role and that, like many Facebook games, the title would encourage collaboration between players.

One of Time magazine's top games of 2010, Angry Birds concerns flinging irritated avians from a slingshot into fortresses erected by nasty pigs. The game has sold over 12 million units worldwide as of last December, with over 30 million versions of its free edition being downloaded to date.
