Gun Loco canceled
Square Enix pulls the plug on violent third-person shooter for Xbox 360; no reason given.
Vaya con Dios, Gun Loco. Square Enix today announced that it had stopped development on the violent third-person multiplayer shooter. The publisher gave no reason for the cancelation.
In Gun Loco's story, the universe's most off-kilter lunatics and criminals are shipped off to a remote prison colony. Unbound and ungoverned, the cons engage in brutal gang warfare as they vie for survival and ultimate power over the planet. The conflict was to play out across a variety of climate zones and locales, with players thrashing fellow criminals amongst the ruins of the planet's fallen civilizations.
Square Enix had described Gun Loco's gameplay as falling within a "sprint-action shooter format," in which players would take on a variety of different roles. The publisher also promised a fresh take on established run-and-gun shooter gameplay, as players would be challenged with acrobatically surmounting the environment as they chased down their marks. Gun Loco was also planned to feature 12-player online matches across a variety of different modes.
