Disney+ has confirmed the development of a second season for the popular series Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson. The announcement is part of a reveal on Tuesday, introducing The Mandalorian & Grogu into Lucasfilm's ongoing feature-development slate. The slate includes films directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also working on Ahsoka Season 2. The news was announced on starwars.com.

The news about Ahsoka Season 2 comes on the heels of the November disclosure to Vanity Fair by Filoni, Lucasfilm's chief creative officer, that he was exploring the possibility of another season for the offshoot series. The first season of Ahsoka concluded its run on October 3, featuring Dawson as the titular character, who fights to prevent the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn following the fall of the Empire. Not much is known about Season 2 as of this writing, except that it is in the mix amid a broader development slate, with the announcement only reading the next season is "in the works."

The Mandalorian & Grogu is set to take the lead in Lucasfilm's feature-development slate, showcasing the vision of directors including Jon Favreau. So, it is plausible more information will be coming on that film first, though it's still early days on both projects.

Ahsoka Season 1 gained widespread attention, and included cameos and nods to the expansive Star Wars universe, including the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and appearances by characters like Sabine Wren and Grand Admiral Thrawn from the animated Star Wars Rebels shows.
