Amazon's Black Friday Week Is Underway: $40 One-Year PS Plus Subscription

Video game deals will begin later.

We've been hearing about various retailers' plans for Black Friday 2018 all month long, but we're finally starting to see some of the early sales go live. For instance, Black Friday prices are already available on digital PS4 and Xbox One games. Amazon has started rolling out its Black Friday deals on product categories that will only increase in number as the official day--November 23--draws near.

Before you get your hopes up too high, note that you won't find many video game or movie deals just yet. Those are expected to appear as Amazon price-matches the deals of other retailers as they go live at places like Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart. That said, you can already grab a 12-month PlayStation Plus subscription for $40, matching Sony's Black Friday deal.

Now Playing: The History of Black Friday

The Black Friday deals currently available at Amazon are exclusive to Prime members (though you can sign up for a one-month free trial here). Many items in the Handmade category, for instance, qualify for a discount and would make great gifts. Take this Game of Thrones whiskey glass or this map of Tolkien's Middle-earth.

Those with a sense of humor might want to pick up things like a portrait of Space Corgi Lieutenant Waffles or a faux-Disney "Drinkerbell" wine glass. On a more serious note, if you know a newlywed couple, you can give them this Christmas ornament for the holidays.

If you're not a Prime member, you can still take advantage of some deals, including up to 50% off Amazon Outlet items. These are overstock products the company wants to move through the warehouses. Here you can find everything from arts and crafts to automotive, baby, and kitchen supplies.

Also included are lots of electronics items, like this handy wall charger you can use to charge four USB devices at once, or this phone mount that attaches to your car's air vent. And if you're in the market for a set of Bluetooth earbuds, you can get a pair of those for cheap as well.

If you're not interested in this stuff, you can check out our Black Friday coverage on video games and entertainment. Some of the deals are available now, while others will start closer to Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
