Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment announced today that the studio has partnered up with one of Apex's biggest fans for the next in-game event: rapper, songwriter, and music producer Post Malone.

The event will feature a new set of cosmetics based on Post Malone's aesthetic, including character skins meant to resemble some of the rapper's most iconic looks from music videos and red carpet appearances. The Apex Legends X Post Malone Event will also feature a new limited-time mode called Three Strikes, which serves as a more forgiving version of the game's rather punishing battle royale mode. The festivities begin on Tuesday, November 7.

Three Strikes allows all three of a squad's players three chances to respawn before the squad is eliminated. Respawns are instant--meaning players don't have to worry about hunting down their fallen brethren's banner cards and hoping no one ambushes them in the process--and reviving downed players also happens in the blink of an eye. During Season 19 previews, Respawn developers confirmed that part of the inspiration behind the mode was a desire to give new players a more relaxed way to play, while still managing to up the chaos factor for veteran players. Devs also confirmed that players would likely see the Three Strikes LTM make a return in future seasons, possibly as often as they see Armed And Dangerous. When asked if Three Strikes may one day permanently join the other game modes in the Mixtape playlist, Respawn developer and Three Strikes game designer Hicks told GameSpot that "nothing is off the table," but said there were no current plans to add the LTM to Mixtape in the immediate future.

The announcement of the Apex Legends X Post Malone Event marks the first time Respawn's popular battle royale has partnered with a celebrity, but for fans of Post Malone, the collaboration likely doesn't come as a shock. Post Malone is a huge fan of the game, and frequently livestreams Apex Legends gameplay to his enormous fanbase. He often teams up with popular streamers and ALGS competitors like iiTzTimmy, and the upcoming event is likely to bring some new players to the game in the form of Post Malone fans, similar to the way Fortnite has seen an influx of players who are fans of artists who have hosted concerts in the game.

The Apex Legends X Post Malone Event begins on Tuesday, November 7 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Stay tuned for more Apex Legends Season 19 news.
