Assassin's Creed Movie Originally Had A Different Ending, See It Here

The ending of the video game movie Assassin's Creed is not the only one that the filmmakers shot. It's now been revealed that they also filmed another ending that was very different.

In the theatrical version of Assassin's Creed, Michael Fassbender's modern-day character, Callum Lynch, successfully escapes Abstergo alongside some of the others that were being kept in the facility. The idea is that they'll go on to form their own group of assassins. But a different, more dramatic ending was originally conceived.

Collider reports that Lynch was originally going to be the only survivor of the breakout. In the sequels, which are planned, he would be alone. Director Justin Kurzel and editor Christopher Tellfsen explain in the clip above that test audiences did not exactly love this direction, so it was changed. As you can see in the clip, all of Lynch's assassin colleagues are killed, including Michael Kenneth Williams' character.

This alternate ending is presumably on the Assassin's Creed home video release, which contains 90 minutes of bonus footage. The movie arrived in digital stores on March 10 and comes to Blu-ray/DVD on March 21. You can see a behind-the-scenes clip from an on-location shoot here.

Assassin's Creed, which came out at the end of December, made more than $211.6 million at the worldwide box office. It performed much better internationally, taking in $157 million from foreign markets, compared to $54 million in the United States, according to Box Office Mojo.
