AU Shippin' Out August 30-September 3: Metroid: Other M
Nintendo and Team Ninja's first collaborative project hits Aussie store shelves; latest rugby league game arrives just in time for the season finals.
With spring arriving on September 1, Rugby League Live for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is the very last game to come out this winter. Launching today, Rugby League Live from the Melbourne-based Big Ant Studios brings more than 40 licensed teams, more than 30 stadiums, and network play to the Xbox 360 and PS3 for the first time.
If you're after a game that has a proven pedigree, then go no further than Metroid: Other M for the Wii when it is released on Thursday. Developed by a collaboration of employees from Nintendo, Team Ninja, and D-Rocket, Other M is aimed at old and new fans alike by allowing players to swap between a first-person view and the traditional side-scrolling view on which the franchise was founded. Samus Aran isn't alone this time either, with squadmates joining her on the mission that Nintendo promises will tell the backstory to gaming's original heroine.
Also taking off this week is Tom Clancy's HAWX 2, the sequel to Ubisoft's 2008 flight sim. The biggest feature this time around sees players taking off and landing on a variety of airstrips, which was something that fans of the first game were after. Other new additions include the use of unmanned aerial vehicles for stealth missions and improved damage modelling. Tom Clancy's HAWX 2 on the Xbox 360 will be buzzing retailers this Thursday and will be released on other platforms over the next few weeks.
