Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Gameplay Premieres At Gamescom, Multiplayer Beta Date Confirmed

Plus, Activision announces a big event for October and reveals when the beta will begin.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is coming this November, with a beta before that, but you don't have to wait another minute to see more of the military shooter. Activision has released the world gameplay premiere for Modern Warfare III as part of Opening Night Live at Gamescom.

The gameplay footage focused on Modern Warfare III's first mission, "Operation 627," and showed off the best look at the game so far.

The mission sees players storming the Verdansk prison at night, using night-vision goggles to guide the way. Players are tasking with clearing a drop zone to allow support to parachute in. All hell eventually breaks loose, and what began as a stealth missions escalates into a massive firefight.

Activision also confirmed that the next Call of Duty Next event is coming on October 5, featuring news about Modern Warfare III, COD Mobile, and Warzone. Additionally, the Modern Warfare III multiplayer beta will begin the weekend of October 6, first on PlayStation.

Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Beta Dates:

Weekend One - PlayStation Exclusive

The multiplayer beta begins Friday, October 6 at 10 AM PT and ends on Tuesday, October 10 at 10 AM PT. PlayStation users who preorder will get in first, starting at those times. Everyone else on PlayStation, regardless of preorder status, can play from Sunday, October 8 at 10 AM PT to Tuesday, October 10 at 10 AM PT.

Weekend Two - Crossplay

The second weekend for the Modern Warfare III beta is for all platforms, and it begins Thursday, October 12 at 10 AM PT and ends on Monday, October 16 at 10 AM PT. Xbox and PC users who preorder the game can start playing at 10 AM PT on October 12. Everyone else on PC and Xbox, regardless of preorder status, can then jump in October 14-16.

Sledgehammer Games is leading development on Modern Warfare III, and the game continues the story where 2022's Modern Warfare II left off. This is the first time in series history that fans are getting a direct sequel just one year later. Task Force 141 is back together and on the hunt for Vladimir Makarov, who is one of Call of Duty's most menacing bad guys.
