DC's upcoming superhero movie Supergirl may have found a director. Deadline reports that Cruella and I, Tonya director Craig Gillespie is in talks to direct Supergirl.

The site went on to say that DC is looking to begin shooting Supergirl in Q4 (October-December) once James Gunn's Superman wraps. Gunn and Peter Safran, the co-heads of DC Studios, are producing Supergirl, the report said.

House of the Dragon's Milly Alcock will play Supergirl in the film, which is based on the Tom King 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Deadline said Alcock will play Supergirl in a different DC project before starring in the title role in the Supergirl film, but it remains to be seen what that other project could be.

DC did not respond to Deadline's request for comment on the reported involvement of Gillespie for Supergirl.

Gillespie is also working on a sequel to Cruella, but it remains to be seen what the status of that project is. The Australian filmmaker is also known for the films Dumb Money, Lars and Real Girl, and Mr. Woodcock.
