Today, April 22, is Earth Day, and to mark the occasion, Blizzard is donating many maggots to charity. Blizzard has partnered with the British rescue and rehabilitation hospital Tiggywinkles to help feed birds with maggots.

How does this all connect to Diablo? In the game, Duriel is the King of Maggots, and his latest mission is to decimate his minions. For every 25 likes on the Diablo Earth Day post, Blizzard will donate a bucket of maggots--each containing about 45,000 maggots--to Tiggywinkles. Blizzard is capping the donation drive at 666 buckets, or about 30 million maggots.

If the donation campaign is maxed out, that would be enough to fund Tiggywinkle's bird feeding program for about 2.5 years, Blizzard said. The value of 666 buckets' worth of maggots is around $13,000 USD, according to Blizzard.

This is not Blizzard's first out-there Diablo campaign. The company previously put real human blood in a computer and had Megan Fox eulogize players' in-game deaths.

Diablo IV launched in 2023 and sold millions of copies. The game recently expanded to even more potential users with its launch on Game Pass in March.
