Disney Interactive President Resigns

Disney Interactive President, Steve McBeth, resigns.

Comments

Steve McBeth, the president of Disney Interactive for the past three years, has resigned and remains with the company only until a replacement can be found. A 17-year veteran of the Walt Disney Co., McBeth resigned on July 24 "for personal reasons," a Disney representative said. McBeth was not available for comment.

While the young division has done fairly well at grabbing market share because of tie-ins with popular animated features, the interactive titles have been fairly lackluster, which could hurt the division in the long run.

"The Disney titles are not very inspiring," said David Cole, an industry analyst with DFC Intelligence. "I don't think their products have lived up to the standards of the Disney name." Cole said that DFC-conducted focus groups found that Disney titles invariably performed badly with the targeted age groups. " is a tiny piece of Disney's business, but if it becomes known that they have weak titles, it could hurt them all around."
