GameSpot News learned on Friday that Electronic Arts Square is currently looking into publishing titles for the Sega Dreamcast. Insiders at the company have expressed an interest in the console now that sales have somewhat picked up.

Electronic Arts Square is primarily known as a publisher in Japan, but recently it has been involved in developing its own titles as well - one of them being the upcoming PlayStation2 title X-Fire. Whether the company is looking to actually develop or simply publish for the Sega Dreamcast is not known.

EA Square is the Japanese company that primarily releases Electronic Arts games in the Japanese market. Recent EA Square releases include FIFA 99 European League Soccer and Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace for the PlayStation. This is not to be mistaken with the publisher's American counterpart, Square Electronic Arts, which mainly handles the releases of Square titles for the US market.

We'll keep you posted with more details soon.
