The Epic Games Store has kicked off the 2023 iteration of its annual Mega Sale, which features four weeks of free games and big discounts on hundreds of games. The sale will run through June 15, and sees the return of Epic Coupons that can be used for an additional savings of 25% on eligible games.

The Epic Coupon will be automatically applied to eligible games, and adds a 25% discount to these titles. The coupon can be used on single purchases or on purchases with multiple games that add up to $15 when you check out, and you'll earn a new coupon with every completed eligible purchase. The coupons will expire at the end of the sale. Additionally, these coupons can be used in conjunction with the new Epic Rewards program, to increase the discount you receive on purchased games.

A cool thing about the coupon is that you can use it on some games that aren't technically part of the Mega Sale. The main restriction is on preorders, so you can't get 25% off upcoming games. However, you can grab 2023 hits like the recently released Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Hogwarts Legacy for $52.50 each. You can also grab Darkest Dungeon 2 for $30 and the newly launched Lego 2K Drive Awesome Edition for $75 (down from $100).

The other big draw of the Mega Sale is that the Epic Games Store will give away four notable free games during this period. The first of these games is Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding, a third-person adventure in a post-apocalypse where you really don't want to get caught without an umbrella when its rainy outside. This is the regular edition of the game, but if you want to enhance it, you can grab the Director's Cut upgrade for 50% less off during the Mega Sale. Death Stranding will be free to claim and own until May 25, and will be replaced by a new mystery free game for the next week.

Some of the highlights for this week include the reboot of Saints Row which is 55% off, giving you a cheaper entry into Volition's reimagining of the cult-classic franchise. While it launched with middling reviews last year, Volition has been working on fixing up its sandbox and it has plans for a substantial amount of free DLC to roll out this year.

Crime Boss: Rockay City, which launched a few months ago, is 20% off the Mega Sale and features a who's available list of B-movie celebrities looking to pay their bills. It's not exactly GOTY material, but at least it doesn't waste its use of Chuck Norris and it goes all in on the memes. FIFA 23, the final "FIFA" game from longtime developer EA, is getting a massive 70% discount for the standard edition, and Far Cry 6 gets an even bigger price cut of 75%.

Ubisoft's latest entry in the Far Cry service is passable stuff, but with that discount, it's a pretty tempting and competent price for a solid sandbox in which you can cause some mayhem in the name of an island nation revolution.

We've rounded up some highlights from the sale below. Keep in mind that all games listed at $15 or higher will get an additional 25% discount with the Epic Coupon.
