Former Blizzard And Riot Developer To Create New 3v3 Shooter, Brazen Blaze

MyDearest, the Japanese game studio behind Tokyo Chronos and Altdeus: Beyond Chronos, is ready to unveil its next title. And though the studio might have made a name for itself with the Chronos series, a pair of story-rich virtual reality titles filled with robot battles, its next venture is new territory for the VR-focused studio: a first-person shooter.

Richard Khoo, a former Riot and Blizzard system designer, has joined up with MyDearest to create Brazen Blaze, a competitive first-person shooter set in an "anarcho-capitalist world." The VR title will see players dash, jump, grapple, shoot, and punch their way to victory using powerful gauntlets, with the ultimate goal of the tournament being to crown the next "President of the World." Additionally, each character will have their own unique set of skills that allow them to carefully break societal rules in order to get ahead, a cheeky commentary from MyDearest on the mantra, "You can't be a good person and a good president."

Now Playing: Brazen Blaze - Exclusive Alpha Announcement Trailer

In the press release for Brazen Blaze, the studio wrote:

"In the anarcho-capitalist world of Brazen Blaze, the only thing keeping society from slipping into a complete dystopia is an international fighting tournament to determine the President of the world. Contestants travel the globe to duke it out in locations evocative of the real world."

According to Khoo, the game's "immersive VR dimension adds unparalleled depth, setting players right in the middle of the action." Even in its pre-alpha stage, Khoo said it "exuded potential." Khoo says he has used his decades of experience working on PvP games to help Brazen Blaze "masterfully blend" combat mechanics and freedom of movement, two elements he claims are key to a successful PvP game and player engagement.

For those looking to get their hands on Brazen Blaze, the studio has announced that closed alpha registrations are now open. Players can register to play via the MyDearest Discord server, with official invitations going out later this month. The studio has not yet announced a release date for Brazen Blaze, or which VR platforms it will be available on.
