Sierra On-Line announced that Gabriel Knight III: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned is scheduled for release in Summer 1998. As in the first two games, the third installment in the creepy Gabriel Knight adventure series is written and designed by Jane Jensen.

GK III: is set in a small village in rural Europe, home of a currently dethroned royal scion who has asked famed "shadow hunter" Gabriel Knight to investigate unexplained events taking place inside the family's close circles. Matters come to a head when the dethroned royal's infant son is kidnapped.

While GK II: The Beast Within made heavy use of full-motion video integrated into 2-D backgrounds, GK III will feature a real time 3-D environment in which characters act independently of the player. The game will feature many side quests so players can follow minor characters to determine their motives.

Sierra has just launched a web site where fans can track development of the game. Sierra promises an inside look at the early stages of development of the game by viewing concept art, in-game screen shots, downloadable AVI video trailers of actual early gameplay footage.
