Developer Sucker Punch has confirmed that players will need a PlayStation Network account in order to play the multiplayer portion of Ghost of Tsushima on PC.

Last week, Sucker Punch addressed player feedback on a player canceling their preorder of Ghost of Tsushima on Steam as a result of PlayStation wanting to link their Steam account to their PSN. The developer said that a PSN account was required to play Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, which is the game's multiplayer mode.

A PSN account is also required to use the new PlayStation Overlay feature that's being introduced with Ghost of Tsushima on PC. This feature connects PC players closer to the PlayStation ecosystem by letting them do things such as earn Trophies while playing the PC version of their games.

However, Sucker Punch clarified that a PSN account would not be required to play Ghost of Tsushima's single-player campaign.

Last week, Sony announced that the latest update for Helldivers 2 would require PC players to link a PSN account in order to continue playing. This was met with intense backlash as players requested and received refunds from Steam. However, Sony later reversed the decision.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut launches for PC on May 16.
