Following in the footsteps of Grand Theft Auto V, ArenaNet on Thursday announced that its PC MMO Guild Wars 2 will introduce a first-person camera option through an upcoming update.
First-person mode for Guild Wars 2 will allow players to see the world as if they are standing (or running or jumping) in it. There are no restrictions for where first-person can be used in the game.
Currently, Guild Wars 2 only allows players to see the world from a third-person perspective. The new first-person camera, which is entirely optional, will be available in Guild Wars 2 through an update that is scheduled to arrive on March 10.
ArenaNet has not shared any images of what first-person looks like in Guild Wars 2, but the developer promises to do just that tomorrow, February 27, during a Twitch live stream.
The March 10 Guild Wars 2 update adds more than just the new first-person camera option. Other presentation-themed tweaks include a field of view slider, a position slider, and a new collision sensitivity setting. In addition, when the update is applied, the camera will focus on a character's head, regardless of their race or size.
Guild Wars 2 was released in summer 2012 and has sold more than 3.5 million copies to date. The game's first expansion, Heart of Thorns, was announced in January.
