Hades Patch On Switch Addresses A Game-Breaking Bug

Hades released on Switch and PC earlier this month, but a bug reared its head for some Switch players and put a stop to their attempts at escape. The bug was a game-breaker, but thankfully it's now been addressed in a patch. You can continue your runs--and your deaths--with peace of mind.

In threads on Reddit, several players reported being unable to load their save files on Switch after several hours of play. The issue seemed to depend on which stats players had focused on in their mirror upgrades, but quite a few players reported seeing an issue. Players were encouraged to start a new save file, but their old one couldn't be accessed until the issue was patched.

Supergiant has addressed the bug in the past, saying that they were confident that they would be able to isolate and address it so that players could continue their journeys, and that has now happened. In a tweet, Supergiant announced that a new patch is available on Switch, and it fixes this issue while also containing "several other minor fixes and improvements." This means that you can now load up your older save--if you haven't already surpassed it in a new save file.

In a follow-up tweet, responding to a question about cross save between the PC and Switch versions, which was delayed ahead of launch, Supergiant Games said that they expect to release it in October. This isn't a confirmed release date, but hopefully the wait won't be too long. The game only released on Switch at its official launch date, having been in early access on PC only before that.

Hades scored a 9/10 in GameSpot's review. "I'm sure there's a point where, after running through hell enough times, I'll have seen all Hades has to offer, both in its clever and endless fights and its many alluring characters, intimate moments, and rewarding quests," wrote reviewer Suriel Vazquez. "But what matters so much more are all the moments between the start and end of a story, and the people who help us see those climactic moments but also stick with us between them. They're the reason we keep trying, and the reason we keep coming back."
