Incoming: Best of 2012 Awards
GameSpot's annual awards and people's choice award voting are coming soon.
2012 has been another great year for games and, starting next week, we at GameSpot will be honoring the best games of the year with our annual awards. Proceedings will get underway next Monday when we reveal not only this this year's award categories, but also the five nominees that are in the running for each. After Monday, winners will be revealed on the following dates:
- 12/13 - Genre Award Winners
- 12/17 - Platform Award Winners
- 12/20 - Special Achievement Winners
- 12/25 - Game of the Year Winner
This Wednesday, December 5, marks the start of this year's People's Choice award which, for the first time, will revolve around just one prestigious category: the People's Choice Game of the Year. Voting will employ a bracket system that pits games against each other in head-to-head elimination rounds until only one game remains, and the first 32 match-ups will be determined by a random drawing that you can watch live on Wednesday at 3pm Pacific. The games in contention, in alphabetical order, are as follows:

Following Wednesday's random seeding, you'll be able to commence voting for your favorite games starting on Friday, December 7. the winner will be decided on Saturday, December 29.
