Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy - Costume Location Guide
Here's where you can find some new space-threads in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.
The Guardians of the Galaxy aren't just reliable heroes for hire in their own game, they're also a fashionable crew of misfits who each sport clothing options that reflect their characters. Star-Lord rocks his trademark red leather jacket, Gamora is geared up with sharp-angled armor to reflect her lethal nature, and Drax prefers to show the cosmos the impressive pecs you'd need to help slay a mad titan. If you're not a fan of those costumes though, the good news is that you can swap them out instantly for alternative space-threads.
If you know where to find them that is. During the course of your adventures in Guardians of the Galaxy, you'll be able to venture off of the beaten track to uncover crates that hold plenty of new cosmetic options. Some of these pull inspiration from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, others are inspired by the classic comic books starring the team, and others are entirely original outfits from the art department at Eidos Montreal.
Here's where you can find all of them.

Star-Lord
Standard-Lord
Your basic set of threads that you'll start out with, Star-Lord's signature outfit is ready for action as soon as you start the game.
Nova-Lord
While following Nikki through the ship during Chapter 2, there'll be an opportunity to engage in several dialogues that have branching conversation choices. When you're prompted to choose between the "Encourage her" or "Take Control" options, look to your left and you'll find an opening between the massive yellow coolant pipes. Follow the path and you'll find the container with the Nova Lord costume hidden inside of it.
Bad-Lord
As you're attempting to escape from the Church of Unity through a drain of engine coolant in Chapter 8, use your visor to scan for a crate that Drax can lift once you emerge from the muck. Have Drax place the crate by the cooling solution exit that you just came out from, climb it, and you'll enter a secret room where you can grab a costume that is a crime against fashion.
Team-Lord
Once you reach the giant fan room in Chapter 14, you'll need to start pulling up barriers to prevent yourself from being blown over the edge. When you reach the end of this tunnel, check the left side for a ledge. Move along it, and you'll spot another costume crate here when you turn around.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2014
The first time that you visit Knowhere in Chapter 6, you'll eventually come to a platform with a bright pink tree. From there, jump down, go over the railing barricade, and then jump down again to the red pipes below where you'll find the crate for Star-Lord's cinematic outfit.
Gold-Lord
This costume is unlocked during Chapter 14's assault on the Church of Unity.
Space-Lord
This costume is unlocked after the campaign has been completed.
City-Lord
This costume is available as a Digital Deluxe and Cosmic Deluxe edition preorder bonus.
Sun-Lord
This costume is available as a Digital Deluxe and Cosmic Deluxe edition preorder bonus.
Social-Lord
This costume is unlocked after the campaign has been completed.
Sleek-Lord
This costume is unlocked after the campaign has been completed.
War-Lord
After you've acquired the Plasma ability for Quill's element blasters in Chapter 13, you'll make your way through a cave. Navigate through it until you reach the exit and look left for a Groot boost platform. Simply hop on, have Groot lift you up, and you can add Quill's comic book Annihilation outfit to his wardrobe.
Apocalypse-Lord
Once you've defeated the Church of Unity acolytes during Chapter 12's return to Knowhere, you'll eventually come to a large circular mining area on the way to the Continuum Cortex. After defeating the enemies here, head to the middle and ask Drax to move a column towards the higher platforms so that you can reach them. At the rear of the mining array and on the left side, is a surface that Gamora can climb to give you a boost up to the higher section.
Climb up, and there's another costume crate here with Star-Lord's Apocalypse-themed threads inside of it.
Gamora
Standard
A collection of sharp armor plates and stealth-enhancing materials, Gamora's trademark outfit is unlocked at the start of the game.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2014
During Chapter 3, you'll engage in your first fight with enemies known as Jellies. After that encounter when you head up the red ramp, take the right path instead of the main one that the rest of the team is following. From here you can find an opening in the wall that leads to a cave. Enter it, remove some organic barriers with your blasters, and take out the Jellies inside. Afterwards, look for more obstructive material, squeeze through the gap after you've blasted it away, and you'll eventually acquire the collectible costume for Gamora.
Nova Corps
When you return to Hala's Hope in Chapter 7, you'll eventually come to a room that has been flooded and electrified. An easy puzzle to solve, just hit the switch to the right of the room with Quill's element blast and electrical ammo to make the area safe to cross. In the corner is a small room sealed off by pipes, that you can ask Gamora to cut for you. Inside of that room is a container, which has a Nova Corps outfit in her size.
Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse
After your meeting with Mantis, you'll enter a cave that has its own river system. On your right you can find a waterfall, and in classic video game design, Gamora's latest costume is hidden behind it in a crate.
Casual Kill
As you cross the rooftops in Chapter 12's return to Knowhere, you'll eventually come to a point where you need to use Drax's muscle to create a path down for you. After you slide down, look behind you and you'll spot a small tunnel that you can crawl through. Follow the short path, and Gamora's casual assassination can be found in the container at the end of it.
Black Vortex
In Chapter 13, ask Gamora to climb a nearby wall after your first enemy encounter. Use her to boost your way up to find a purple chest with her classic Black Vortex outfit inside.
Golden Guardians
This costume is unlocked during Chapter 14's assault on the Church of Unity.
Chosen Daughter
At the enemy encounter where Cosmo helps you--if you freed him from The Promise--you'll make your way into a series of mines. Once you've frozen the second waterfall, you can carry on freezing optional waterfalls that'll take you to a small gap in the walls. Follow that cramped path to find another costume container.
Drax
Standard Outfit
Drax's typical outfit which allows the galaxy to read his life story through the ritualistic tattoos inked into his torso, is available from the start of the game.
Nova Corps
When you return to Hala's Hope to pay your fine in Chapter 7, you'll come to a lobby that appears to be locked off from the rest of the ship. Once Rocket starts tinkering with the electronics, you'll need to redirect some power so that you can proceed further. Before you link up the main door, use the switches to open the bathroom next to the main office. Inside is a Nova Corps outfit that Drax can wear.
Cage Match
Once you've dealt with the Church of Unity's well-armed congregation while hopping between skiffs in Chapter 8, you'll eventually dock your mobile platform in a large circular loading bay. Before you go through the door, run to the back of the large room to find Drax's MMA gear, from back when he proposed that he would solve the Guardians' constant financial problems by inflicting grievous bodily harm onto willing combatants in cage matches.
Thanos Imperative
After you defeat the first group of enemies in Chapter 12, look for the pillar in the middle of the area. Ask Drax to move it, and then climb the platform to grab another costume for your big green teammate.
Golden Guardians
This costume is unlocked during Chapter 14's assault on the Church of Unity.
Katathian Monk
During Chapter 13, once you've cleared the ruined village and have cleared the ice cave sliding section, hop onto the small rock ledge on the left. Use your plasma blaster to clear the poisonous mushroom plants, climb to the top and you can grab Drax's Katathian monk costume, an outfit renowned for its luxuriously soft fabric design.
Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse
After you've cleared the way through the Church of Unity's forces in Chapter 14, you'll eventually reach a section on the outer perimeter that is sealed off by a frozen wall. Melt it with your plasma blaster, and then follow the path around. Jet-boot your way onto each platform, and you'll spot the crate here that contains an Apocalypse-themed costume for Drax.
Rocket
Standard
Rocket's go-to outfit for adventure, exploration, and smuggling contraband with its many many pockets, you'll be able to see him strutting about the Milano wearing this suit once the game begins.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2014
During your first chapter of Guardians of the Galaxy, you'll eventually come to a point in the path where you slide down. At the bottom, go left and you'll spot a small open section in the stranded Nova Corps ship. Jump down, look behind you, and you'll spot a crate containing Rocket's cinematic costume.
Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse
In Chapter 5, you'll take an elevator down to Lady Hellbender's throne room to hand over either Rocket or Groot to the Monster Queen. In the employee break area, the team will turn left but don't take that path. Hop over a nearby wooden table and stay quiet. At the end is an opening that you can crawl under, with a costume crate at the end.
Nova Corps
You can find this fake Nova Corps disguise in Chapter 7, after you defeat the first two groups of enemies. In the circular room with red lighting where you need to reroute power, go to the room with a Groot Boost prompt. Have Groot raise you up, look for an air duct, and crouch your way through it. In the locked room that you enter from here, there's a power line on the right side that you can activate to find the costume chest.
Hero of Half-World
For a very retro outfit that references Rocket's weird origins, Chapter 10 has the costume that you're looking for. After your fight with the hulking Ogrode, you'll need to knock some crystals over to carry on. Go to the opposite side of the area before you do some demolition, ask Rocket to explore a small crack in the rock formations and blast it open. There'll be some toxic gas that you can freeze with your element blasters, and a Groot Boost platform that you can ride to the top.
Finally, shimmy along the ledge, and you'll pick up the costume container at the end of it.
The Smuggler
After you've dealt with the enemies in Knowhere's market during Chapter 12, follow the path and you'll spot a small section on the right side of the route that's barricaded by some debris. Use Quill's air-element from his weapon to yank the debris out of the way, and Rocket's more casual costume can be obtained from the container.
The Stinger
This costume is available as a preorder bonus.
Golden Guardians
This costume is unlocked during Chapter 14's assault on the Church of Unity.
Groot
Standard
All bark and no bite--but in a good way--Groot's natural form graces the screen once Guardians of the Galaxy begins.

Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse
After the section in which you fight the uncaged cryo-beast in Chapter 3, go to the left side of the zone and look for an anchor point where Groot can make a mooring. Go to the other side, turn right, and squeeze through the gap in the wall. Use Quill's cryo-rounds to freeze the water, climb up, and follow the path until you find the container that has Groot's nightmarish alternate skin inside of it.
Nova Corps
As you work your way through the Kree Nova Corps ship in Chapter 7, the gang will remark that you need to start working your way up. In the room where everyone climbs up using a scissor-left, a crate for Groot's Nova costume can be found just past the device, hidden behind a storage unit.
Annihilation: Conquest
Once you reach the portion of the caverns in Chapter 11 that can only be illuminated by Groot's bioluminescence ability, explore the area to the right before you descend further into the caves. Go to the rear of this cave within a cave, and you'll find an area that you can squeeze through, with the costume container hidden within that section. Inside of this crate you'll find Groot's Annihilation uniform, which he wore during the pivotal Marvel comic book event.
Impaler
Near the yellow vending machines in Chapter 12, ask Gamora to cut through the wires in that area. There'll be two ledges to shimmy across, but before you ask Drax to annihilate some rubble, use the Air element on Quill's guns to pull a wall apart. Have Groot make a bridge, head to the gate, and use the electrical ammo element to open the entrance up. From here, look for a vent on the side and ask Rocket to explore it so that the electrified water can be turned off.
Groot's deadly Impaler costume can be found on the right side of this location.
Golden Guardians
This costume is unlocked during Chapter 14's assault on the Church of Unity.
Five O'clock Sprouts
During Chapter 13's mission to capture Fin Fang Foom, you'll come to a gulch that Groot will make a bridge across for you. You'll need to work your way up to a narrow ledge, and shimmy across it. After you've cleared that section and enter the new cave, turn right instead of left and you'll find a costume crate that contains Groot's unkempt appearance, to add to your collection.
