What's your SDCC gameplan?

San Diego Comic-Con 2019 is officially underway, and it runs all weekend. Marvel is set to have a major presence after last year went by without a meaningful MCU showing, we're looking at a much busier this year as Marvel and Disney prepare to unveil Phase 4, the first details of which were shared at SDCC. We've assembled a complete schedule for Marvel's panels and happenings at the show, but for the MCU, the biggest thing was Saturday night's Marvel Studios panel, which certainly delivered.

Feige acknowledged much of the unseen talent behind Marvel's movies before saying he could talk about what they've done or what they plan to do. He did not that Avengers: Endgame has now apparently overtaken Avatar to become the biggest movie of all-time (albeit without adjusting for inflation), and that in turn led to the unveiling of Marvel's Phase 4 and its release dates. The first movie discussed is The Eternals, releasing on November 6, 2020.

Next up was Falcon and Winter Soldier, which debuts in Fall 2020, followed by details on Shang Chi, which releases on February 12, 2021. Loki's Disney+ show--as set up in Endgame--comes in Spring 2021, followed by Doctor Strange 2 on May 7. The What If project debuts in Summer 2021, followed by the Hawkeye series in the fall. Thor 4, known as Thor: Love and Thunder, arrives on November 5, 2021 (with Natalie Portman returning). Before all of this, the Black Widow movie hits on May 1, 2020.

We got a long list of Marvel Phase 4 movie and TV release dates. Feige notes that they didn't get to talk about Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2, or Guardians of the Galaxy 3, but he also made reference to mutants (X-Men) and Fantastic Four. At the end of the panel, actor Mahershala Ali appeared for the surprise reveal that he'll star in a new Blade movie. It was quite the jam-packed panel.

Endgame writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely took part in a panel where they discussed the making of the movie. That includes the decision to kill Thanos early on, mapping out the acquisition of the Infinity Stones, and how Smart Hulk was originally going to show up at the end of Infinity War. One of the more eye-grabbing reveals was the idea to have Thanos decapitate the 2014 version of Captain America.

Even before Marvel could host any of its panels, we got some major news for fans of the company's key TV series, Agents of SHIELD. The long-running ABC series will end after Season 7. The show's panel followed later on Friday, after the one dedicated to Marvel's games, where we learned about new Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 DLC characters and more details on Marvel's Avengers, the first since its E3 debut.

Comic-Con is an event that can easily become overwhelming whether you're attending or watching from afar. It's not only the biggest pop culture convention in the world; it's also packed to the absolute brim with panels, events, activations--you name it--for just about every major franchise under the sun. Sorting it all out to find what's happening with for your favorite shows, movies, games, and comics can be a nightmare. But never fear, the team here at GameSpot is comprised of SDCC veterans who are happy to help!
