Midway's Mortal Kombat action-adventure game finally arrives for the Sony PlayStation.

Midway has announced that Mortal Kombat: Special Forces for the Sony PlayStation is now available at all participating retail outlets. The game is a 3D action-adventure , in the mold of the Tomb Raider series, where players must guide Special Forces agent Jackson Briggs (Jax) through both fighting and exploration sequences. Through eight levels of gameplay, players must defeat members of the Black Dragon gang as they work their way to a final confrontation with the leader of the gang,leader Kano.

"Mortal Kombat: Special Forces will captivate the millions of loyal Mortal Kombat fans and further broaden the dynamic appeal of the franchise," said Helene Sheeler, vice president of marketing for Midway. "Special Forces expands the Mortal Kombat legend, adding new depth to the characters while delivering the engrossing action that players have come to expect from the series."

Mortal Kombat: Special Forces has gone through several changes during its development cycle, with the departure of the original development team and the cancellation of the Nintendo 64 version.
