Modern Warfare 3 Leak Suggests Call Of Duty Crossover With Warhammer 40k

Warhammer 40k bundles could be headed to MW3 and Warzone.

The Season 1 Reloaded update arrived to Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone yesterday, and data miners are already using the game files to dig up what might be planned for Call of Duty's next big update. The leakers are finding several references to the Warhammer 40k franchise.

A dataminer known as CODWarfareForum is credited for sharing the leaks, which include potential Call of Duty loading screens depicting art from Warhammer 40k's ongoing Dark Angels chapter of the Space Marines. There are mentions of operator skins and an event themed around the franchise.

The game files also seem to suggest Warhammer 40k bosses for the event with the Baton Jailer, Swamp Monster (Fenbeast), Ogre Butcher, and Mummy. It's worth mentioning that these Warhammer bosses sound similar to those featured in last year's spooky Operation Nightmare event for Warzone, with boss fights for a swamp creature, mummy, and Diablo's Butcher all being present. It's possible something similar could return for MW3 and Warzone's new Urzikstan map, but with bosses reskinned to fit the Warhammer 40k characters.

Call of Duty has landed so many major IP deals in the last few years, with collabs such as The Boys, Attack on Titan, The Evil Dead, Masters of the Universe, and Dune, making big crossovers like this feel very possible. However, nothing has been officially confirmed by Activision, so it's uncertain when or if this collaboration will happen.

Leaks from data mining at the start of Season 1 suggested a potential crossover with The Walking Dead's Rick Grimes and Michonne, but nothing has been announced yet.

Season 1 Reloaded launched in rough state, with bugs and issues delaying content across MW3 and Warzone. Several game fixes were released overnight, so the game should be less broken now. Raven Software announced Warzone's Champion Quest will be re-enabled today at 10 AM PT/ 1 PM ET. Unfortunately, a new launch date hasn't been announced for multiplayer's delayed Ranked Play mode.
