NetEase has announced that Naraka: Bladepoint, the 60-player battle royale, has adopted a free-to-play model across all platforms as the game launches on PlayStation 5.

Alongside the release, Naraka: Bladepoint will introduce new content and features, a new playable hero, rewards for both veteran and new PS5 players, as well as goodies to celebrate the game's two-year anniversary. Among the new features is a new game mode called Capture the Spirit, a 12v12 gang wars battle that will allow players to capture locations to earn points. There are also Justice Chamber updates to Guild Mode, which now has more features to the guild system, as well as a new Dual Haldberd's weapon that combines a spear and dagger into one.

A new hero named Tessa will be joining the roster and she is a 1000-year-old fox demon who can charm enemies and capture their souls. Naraka: Bladepoint now features a 3D lobby, allowing players to grapple around and explore while queuing for matches.

Additionally, to welcome new players on the PS5, users will be rewarded with a Katana skin, a Ryuzan Frost Reflection, and two Immortal Treasures. PS Plus members will also receive some extras, including five more Treasures, an exclusive Headwear designed just for PS Plus members, and more.

Veterans who previously purchased the game will receive in-game gold equivalent to what edition they currently possess, and those with a Naraka account via Xbox Game Pass will be automatically upgraded from the Standard Edition to the new Deluxe Edition containing in-game rewards.

NetEase released a second trailer teasing an upcoming Nier collaboration event set for August 9, and it looks like 2B herself could be joining the game.

The PlayStation 5 release and the free-to-play launch comes as Naraka: Bladepoint celebrates its second anniversary while crossing the 20 million unique players mark.
