Netflix has revealed that Castlevania: Nocturne is set to premiere on September 28. The streaming giant unveiled the news in a recent tweet, plus word that a new teaser trailer of the animated series will be dropping on July 27.

First announced during 2022's Geeked Week, the show will serve as a spin-off to the original Castlevania animated series, which concluded its four-season run back in 2021. In this new installment, the focus will shift to Richter Belmont, a prominent member of the Belmont family lineage. Richter will take over from Trevor, who previously starred in the four-season original series, as the latest Belmont to embark on a vampire-hunting adventure. Until the new teaser drops, you can check out a newly released poster below.

Castlevania: Nocturne draws its inspiration from the acclaimed video game series by Konami, specifically adapting elements from the 1993 entry Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and its sequel, Symphony of the Night.

The series is the brainchild of creator Clive Bradley, with Kevin Kolde serving as showrunner. Produced by Project 51 Productions with animation services provided by Powerhouse Animation, the show is set to deliver a meaty vampire-hunting saga.

In the game's lore, Richter is several generations removed from Trevor and Sypha, who played central roles in the original series. His ancestors' legacy spans multiple generations until Richter steps into the spotlight as the chief protagonist of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and makes appearances in other games in the franchise. It remains to be seen how the show will incorporate these events and if any alterations to the timeline will be made.
