New Look at Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

Activision takes GameSpot News to the X Games to check out Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for PlayStation.

Last Friday Activision invited GameSpot News to a special press event held at the X Games (happening this week in San Francisco) in order to meet skateboarding legend Tony Hawk and check out the game bearing his likeness in action. We were treated to a few hours of skateboarding and then a party lasting well into the night.

Slated for release this fall, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is looking to be one of the best skating titles ever – it's quite obvious that Neversoft (the game's developer) and Activision are pouring a significant amount of effort into making this a grade A title for this year. After watching Hawk compete against other contestants skating on the half-pipe, it was nice to see their videogame counterparts modeled so closely to the real thing.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater allows you to take control of Hawk, along with eight other skating pros, including Chad Muska, Bob Burnquist, Kareem Campbell, Rine Glifberg, Bucky Lasek, Geoff Rowley, Andrew Reynolds, and Jamie Thomas. Other game highlights include a two-player split screen, time attack and career modes, and more.

Look for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for the PlayStation to land on store shelves this fall, but for now make sure to browse through our latest batch of screens and videos from the event.
