Amass additional Essence so you can unlock more stuff in Nightingale.

Comments

You're going to need a certain currency if you want to purchase blueprints or repair your gear in Nightingale. Thankfully, there are ways for you to amass this resource. Here's our guide on how to get more Essence in Nightingale.

How to get more Essence in Nightingale

You can get more Essence through the following means:

  • Use the "Extract" option on unneeded resources.
  • Collect from enemy drops.
  • Obtain from treasure chests.
  • Acquire as clusters in mini-dungeons.

Note that there are four Essence tiers denoting their rarity. You should be able to amass higher-tier Essences as you progress further in the campaign.

Extracting more Essence

The most effective Essence farm in Nightingale, at least in the early-game, is by extracting it from materials and items that you no longer need. You can do this by opening your inventory and right-clicking on an item, then selecting the "Extract" option.

The amount and type of Essence you'll receive depends on the quality and quantity of the item. For example: you can gather 100 Plant Fiber just by collecting the bushes on the ground. The Essence extraction option should then yield 100 Essence Dust.

You can also try this with recruitable survivor NPCs--note that the game only allows you to have one NPC follower at a time. So, let's say you aided an NPC but you already have a companion. You can simply transfer the outfits and weapons of either NPC to your inventory, then extract those to gain additional Essence.

You can gather a lot of sticks and fiber, then extract a bunch of Essence. This is useful if you need to repair your gear quickly.

Essence as loot from enemies and chests

Upon defeating enemies, it's possible for some of them to drop Essence, too. As expected, the type of Essence you get also depends on the realm difficulty and the rarity of the creature that you just defeated. You might also find Essence in treasure chests that you discover.

You can sometimes find Essence currency as loot, whether from enemy drops (left) or chests (right).

Essence Bundles in various locations

Lastly, while exploring the Faewilds, there's a chance that you'd stumble upon landmarks, such as Fae Towers or Sites of Power. These mini-dungeons may contain clusters that you can collect.

How to spend your Essence currency

Essence is primarily used to repair your weapons, tools, and clothing. You can right-click on a piece of gear and select the "Repair" option to fully restore its durability.

Likewise, Essence is used to purchase blueprints from the aptly named Essence Traders. There tends to be at least one NPC in each biome combination that you travel to. Open the map to find their location, and buy the stuff that you need. You may also open the Guidebook by pressing the "B" key, then check the Traders panel. It shows each NPC's wares and the type of biome where they spawn.

In any case, this is how you farm Essence in Nightingale. Don't forget to save up on enough of the currency so you can purchase more goodies from vendors. You're going to need a lot of these if you want to collect various kinds of Realm Cards.

Nightingale lets you travel to distant realms, with their own rewards, dangers, and opportunities. For more tips and information, you can check out our guides hub.
