There are two high-profile gaming events this week in the form of The Game Awards (December 1) and PlayStation Experience (December 3-4). We're anticipating some reveals and new trailers for existing games, but don't expect to see or hear anything about Insomniac's new Spider-Man game at either one.

In a tweet today, the Ratchet & Clank developer confirmed that it's not showing new Spider-Man content at The Game Awards or PlayStation Experience. It's possible Spider-Man will show up in a sizzle reel, but you will have to wait until 2017 to see more of the game, Insomniac added.

Now Playing: Spider-Man - E3 2016 PS4 Trailer

In another tweet, Insomniac said it "understand[s] the disappointment" fans may have about Spider-Man's no show, going on to say that the studio is "working hard" on the game.

The new Spider-Man game was announced during Sony's E3 2016 briefing in June. Footage of the game running on the PS4 Pro aired during the console's announcement event in September. No date has been set for its release, while Spider-Man is only its working title.

The game lets you play as the iconic web-slinger in a completely original story. The Peter Parker in the game is "experienced" and "more masterful at fighting crime" in the game's setting of New York.

"From traversing with parkour and utilizing the environment, to new combat and blockbuster set pieces, it's Spider-Man unlike any you've played before," reads a line from the game's description.

Spider-Man isn't the only PS4 exclusive skipping PSX, as the new God of War game also won't show up there.

GameSpot will bring you all the news from The Game Awards and PSX as it's announced. Keep checking back for more on both events in the days ahead.
