With the original title fresh in gamers' minds, Climax displays its take on the sequel to One.

With the original title fresh in the minds of gamers, ASC is already planning a sequel to its hit shooter One (as revealed in last week's GameSpot News).

The following pictures are design sketches for the game, tentatively being called One 2. The sketches were created by UK-based Climax, not the designers of the first One, Visual Concepts (who is busy working on other titles).

The company's ideas for the game features over ten new levels, including Atlantis City, a tomb environment, swampland, a skydiving environment, and more.

Players would once again suit up into the role of Cain, who continues his mission to extinguish the alien race that turned him into a cyborg. The same kind of special effects and movie-like action seen in the original are also planned for the sequel, and the developers have new ideas to take the series even farther.

What's with all the references to "plans" and "ideas?" Apparantly Climax is one of three developers currently being considered to take on the project, according to ASC Games' Jayson Bernstein.

It seems Climax was perhaps a little bit premature in posting shots and info on its web site, as the final decision on who will handle the game's development isn't set to take place for another few weeks.

Bernstein revealed that the title will utilize the same basic game engine as the original, and therefore shouldn't require more than a 12-month development cycle to create (regardless who is chosen to develop it).

Whatever happens, the following shots present an interesting look at what may end up in the sequel.

Climax (formerly known as Images Software) is currently handling the PlayStation versions of Midway's San Francisco Rush (which is set to have two-player horizontal or vertical split-screen mode, enhanced lighting, and night driving) and EA's Diablo.
