PlayStation Plus Extra And Premium Games For September Revealed

The PlayStation Plus games for the Extra and Premium tiers have been officially revealed, and for fans of JRPGs, strategy, and getting your house in order, there's plenty to look forward to when these games arrive on September 19.

Confirming a leak from earlier this month, the PS Plus additions this month are headlined by Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139…, an upgraded version of the original 2010 game, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, a sci-fi mystery epic spanning thirteen intertwining stories, and Star Ocean: The Divine Force, a story-driven space opera with fast-paced combat.

Other highlights this month include Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, an intense game of long-distance marksmanship set deep inside of enemy territory. While Rebellion's Sniper Elite series has become the gory benchmark for games of this particular niche, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2 is a worthy contender and offers a selection of cool gadgets to employ, highly replayable contracts, and a lot of pressure behind each squeeze of the trigger.

For a more zen-like experience, check out Unpacking. On the surface, this is a game about moving into new homes and arranging your prized possessions, but as you move into new homes, there's a touching story to be experienced in a game that's part block-fitting puzzle, part home decoration simulator. If you're in the mood to punish yourself, there's also Contra: Rogue Corps to try out. A terrible revival of one of the most beloved action games of all time, Contra: Rogue Corps is widely regarded to be a massive fumble that does the franchise no favors and makes for a middling twin-stick shooter at best.

In the PlayStation classics department, PS Plus Premium subscribers can add four more games to their collection, three of which are classic Star Ocean adventures. Star Ocean: First Departure R, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, and Star Ocean: The Last Hope are being added, and Dragon's Crown caps off the quartet of new arrivals. Sony raised the price of every PlayStation Plus tier on September 6, and for anyone looking to grab a year's subscription to PlayStation Plus Premium, you'll be paying $40 more per year for that service.
