Prime Matter Game Scars Above's New Trailer Teases Sci-Fi Setting
A new trailer shown at Gamescom gives more info on what to expect from the new Prime Matter game.
Prime Matter game Scars Above is a third-person shooter and is a horror sci-fi where characters deal with sentient alien life that isn't very friendly, according to a new trailer shown during Gamescom.
"We always wonder if we're alone in the universe," the female narrator says in the trailer. "Explored, observed, but found nothing." The trailer continues to show huge pyramid-shaped objects appearing above Earth, and what looks to be a team sent out to make contact. An engine failure occurs, and the crew is marooned in a hostile environment, full of rather scary-looking inhabitants.
This isn't the first trailer for Prime Matter's new game. A Scars Above pre-alpha gameplay trailer was released in 2021. That video also showed the protagonist, Kate, equipped with a gun that can set things on fire, shooting at alien life. In the mysterious world, Kate also encountered huge monuments and used data to extrapolate what purposes the features on aliens actually serve.
The developer is Mad Head Games, a European studio that's created over 60 games. Mad Head is also working on an unannounced project based on a famous horror film IP.
Scars Above's release date is currently unknown. The trailer's ending card says "coming soon," though on Mad Head Games' website, Scars Above's launch date is early 2023.
