There's also a Digital Deluxe edition with a bunch of extra in-game bonuses available on the PlayStation Store. If you preorder now, there's still time to get your copy by release day, so check out everything you need to know below.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart preorder bonuses

All Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart preorders come with two in-game bonuses. Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando fans will likely remember the slick Carbonox armor. The suit has been updated and will even have ray-traced reflections. You'll also get the Pixelizer, a retro-infused blaster that was featured in the 2016 remake of the original Ratchet & Clank.

The story sees Ratchet & Clank and allies both old and new work to stop a robot emperor from taking control of multiple dimensions. A new female Lombax named Rivet will also join the fray as a playable character. Clank will also have new mechanics at his disposal, and as always, you can expect a varied arsenal of weapons and armor to unlock and upgrade to help you topple the evil robot emperor and its minions.

Ratchet and Clank are separated early on in the game. Ratchet explores Nefarious City, gaining new abilities along the way such as wall-running, dashing in mid-air, and hover boots. Clank ends up linking up with Rivet, and they tackle challenges and vanquish foes together with Rivet's trusty hammer and a suite of high-tech weapons.

PlayStation gave an extended look at gameplay during the most recent State of Play livestream on April 29. Fans can expect a wide variety of activities in Rift Apart, including open areas to explore, aerial combat, new Clank-only challenges, arena battles, and pocket dimensions, which are smaller-scale worlds to explore. We also saw Ratchet jump through rifts using the rift tether, and it looks like this feature will prove to have a dramatic impact on both exploration and combat.

Rift Apart will make use of the DualSense's haptic triggers when firing weapons, allowing you to unload partial clips with lighter pulls. It will also be the first game in franchise history with a photo mode and have robust accessibility settings. Thanks to the PS5's SSD, Rift Apart will have nearly instant load times.
