Raving Rabbids bouncing to TV in 2013
Ubisoft commissioning 26 half-hour episodes based on unstable Rayman supporting characters; series due to air on Nickelodeon in 2013.
Ubisoft's Raving Rabbids have embarked upon adventures on a range of platforms including the Game Boy Advance, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, and Wii. Now, the dimwitted rabbits are landing on a new platform: TV.
Ubisoft this week announced a licensing agreement with Nickelodeon that will bring a new series based on the Raving Rabbids franchise to the child-themed network beginning in 2013. As part of the deal, Ubisoft will create 78 seven-minute CG shorts, and Nickelodeon will air them as 26 half-hour episodes around the world (except for Ubisoft's home country of France, where the show will be carried by France Televisions). Neither Ubisoft nor Nickelodeon shared further details concerning the collaboration, like a name for the series or any plot details.
While the Raving Rabbids television show may be far away, the next entry in the video game series--Raving Rabbids: Alive & Kicking--is much closer. Due out on November 8 exclusively for the Xbox 360 Kinect, Alive & Kicking places an emphasis on augmented reality minigames.
