Zack Snyder's would-be Star Wars film, Rebel Moon, will land on Netflix this Christmas and fans finally have their first trailer of the sci-fi epic. It's been over a year since we got our first look at the upcoming film, that Snyder and Netflix are hoping to turn into their next big thing. A sequel was filmed back-to-back with the first feature simply called Rebel Moon: Part Two which has no confirmed release date.

The trailer was shown during the Opening Night Live presentation at Gamescom and introduced by Snyder, who was introduced to the crowd by host Geoff Keighley. The director thanked the crowd and said he had been a gamer his whole life and that even going to Gamescom "blew his mind." The trailer showed a flurry of scenes featuring Sofia Boutella's Kora, Cleopatra Coleman's Devra Bloodaxe, and Jena Malone's mysterious and alien Harmada and set the stage for what's to come. Check it out below.

Rebel Moon tells the story of a peaceful colony that finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force. The enigmatic Kora (Boutella) becomes their best hope for survival for the villagers and is soon finding trained warriors who will make an impossible stand against the Mother World. In her search, Kora assembles a small band of fighters from different worlds who are bonded for their need for revenge--and maybe even redemption.

Joining Boutella, Malone, and Coleman are Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou, Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Staz Nair, Ed Skrein, Fra Fee, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, E. Duffy, and Anthony Hopkins as the voice of Jimmy, a mechanical knight.

Rebel Moon is scheduled to be released on December 22, 2023, by Netflix, with a limited theatrical release being planned. In conjunction with the release, there will be a Rebel Moon RPG released as well as a comic book series from Titan Books.
