Red Dead Online: Last Chance To Get Standalone Game For $5 Before Price Hike

Rockstar also announces some freebies to celebrate the "tremendous" response to Red Dead Online.

Red Dead Redemption 2's multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, is currently available to buy as a standalone game for $5, but that introductory rate will soon expire. Rockstar Games reminded players that the discounted rate will end on February 15, after which the game will gallop back up to $20 USD.

The standalone edition of Red Dead Online is available for the discounted price on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Launcher, Epic Games Store, and Steam.

In a blog post, Rockstar said it has seen a "tremendous response" to Red Dead Online's standalone edition, and it's thanking fans with a bundle of in-game gifts. Everyone who played Red Dead Online--either through the standalone game or the full edition of Red Dead Redemption 2--between December 1 and February 15 will receive the following gifts:

  • Reward for a free Horse under Rank 40
  • Reward for a free Stable Slot
  • Reward for 5,000 Club XP
  • Rewards for 2 free Ability Cards
  • High Velocity Ammo for all gun types
  • Reward for a free Coat
  • Reward for a free Hat Rank 15 and under
  • Reward for a free Shirt Rank 15 and under
  • Reward for a free Fast Travel Voucher
  • Horse Reviver
  • Assortment of select Tonics and other consumables
  • 50% off any Weapon
  • 40% off any Non-Role Pamphlet from the Fence
  • 30% off anything from Wilderness Outfitters

Rockstar also announced what's in the newest weekly refresh for Red Dead Online. Players can earn double XP for the Hardcore variant of the Head for the Hills multiplayer mode. Additionally, players who have chosen the Trader role can get 25 free Trader Goods just for logging in, while Trader Sell missions will pay out 50% more RDO$ this week. Players who complete a pair of Sell missions before February 8 will get 40% off the Established or Distinguished Trader role item of their choosing.

Players looking to become a Trader, meanwhile, can do so on the cheap this week, as Rockstar is offering 5 Gold bars off the Butcher's Table for the week. Additionally, the cost to move your camp has been waived across the entire game for the week.

Finally, Red Dead Online's weekly sales are offering 40% off stuff for your camps, including dogs, themes, flags, and outfits. Head to the official blog post to see a full rundown of what's new and on sale in Red Dead Online this week.

A standalone edition of GTA Online is also coming this year, and it will be free for PlayStation users for the first three months.
