The beta test sign-ups for Command & Conquer Renegade, Westwood Studios' upcoming shooter, are set to begin at midnight tonight. The 24-hour sign-up period will open at 12:01am PST November 28, 2001, and Westwood will randomly select 1,500 beta testers from the pool of qualified entries. Those selected will be notified within three days of the end of the sign-up period.

Renegade is a first- and third-person shooter based in the Command & Conquer universe featured in Westwood's popular real-time strategy game series. Players assume the role of Havoc, a GDI commando character featured in the previous games. Havoc must use his explosive charges, sniper rifle, and more to stop the forces of NOD from completing their dangerous experiments.

The beta test will include four multiplayer maps, 28 different characters, 23 different weapons, and 11 vehicles. Players will join one of two competing teams, GDI or Nod, and they will fight to destroy each other's base.

Command & Conquer Renegade is scheduled for release by Electronic Arts in February 2002. For more information, take a look at our updated preview of the game.
