Sony has delivered on its promise of overhauling the PlayStation Store ahead of the PlayStation 5's November 12 launch. The new store makes some changes, including removing support for older PlayStation software and enabling preorders of PlayStation 5 games.

The new PlayStation Store isn't available in all regions yet. Earlier this month, Sony said the revamped store would roll out on October 19 for web users and October 28 on mobile.

In addition to changing the layout, the new PlayStation Store discontinues support for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation Vita games and DLC add-ons. Users of these devices will no longer be able to purchase these titles from the PlayStation Store via desktop or mobile. Moreover, PlayStation 4 apps, themes, and avatars, as well as the wishlist feature, have all been removed following the launch of the overhauled PlayStation Store.

Previously purchased content for any PlayStation system will still be available despite a lack of support, and content for the unsupported systems can still be purchased from the PlayStation Store on consoles. It's just not available through the web or mobile version of the store.

The overhauled PlayStation Store changes the way it presents content, with massive tiles for games instead of smaller icons. This should make searching for and purchasing games easier. Also, PlayStation 5 games can now be preordered through the new store experience.

According to a Resetera thread, the new PlayStation Store is missing some features. There's no way to filter listings, file size information is missing, gameplay videos and screenshots on game pages aren't present, and titles can't be added to a cart from the list views. These features and more may be added once the store is made available to everyone worldwide.

Sony is finally discussing more information about the PlayStation 5, and not just the games that will be available on day one. The company recently unveiled the user interface for the next-gen system, baked in an in-game hint feature, and overhauled the Trophy system.

There are two versions of the PlayStation 5 that drop on November 12: the Digital edition for $400 and the Standard edition for $500. Check out our PlayStation 5 preorder guide to find out which stores will be restocked on launch day.
