Rumble Roses E3 2004 Preshow Impressions

Konami releases new information on its all-female wrestling game for the PlayStation 2.

Konami has today released new information on Rumble Roses, a PS2-exclusive all-female wrestling game currently in development by Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo (KCET) in conjunction with Yukes. Currently scheduled for release in November, the game will feature 11 different characters, who, depending on whether you choose to fight dirty or fair, will have completely different sets of moves available to them.

In addition to standard wrestling and story mode options, Konami has today revealed that Rumble Roses will feature a mud mode, in which the bikini-clad beauties slide around in and get covered with realistic mud. "This is the ultimate fantasy for gamers," suggested Rob Goff, product manager at Konami Digital Entertainment America. "We're delivering an unparalleled wrestling game experience combined with the most beautiful women ever to appear in a video game."

Whether fighting dirty or fair, one of your primary objectives in Rumble Roses will be to humiliate your opponents by insulting them, taunting them, and placing them in "compromising" positions. If you succeed in humiliating your opponent, you'll be rewarded with power-ups, additional moves, temporary invincibility, and such. If you fail to humiliate her and win over the crowd, though, your actions might have the reverse effect--angering your opponent so much that she receives the temporary benefits instead of you.

Konami plans to have a playable version of Rumble Roses at its E3 booth. We'll bring you more information on the game as soon as we've had a chance to spend a little quality time with it.
