According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Sega has scheduled the PlayStation 2 game Sakura Taisen V: Saraba Itoshiki Hito Yo for a July 7 release in Japan. The adventure strategy game will be priced at 8,190 yen ($76). A limited edition package will also be released at 14,700 yen ($137). Details of the limited edition's contents will be announced later.

Sakura Taisen translates to "Great War Among the Cherry Blossoms." The first iteration of the series debuted on the Sega Saturn in 1996.

In Sakura Taisen V, players assume the role of Shinjirou Taiga, a Japanese navy officer who's been sent to New York to become a member of the city's Kagekidan defense unit. The game features five heroines, one of whom is the main character from the previous installment of the series, Gemini Sunrise. Taiga and the heroines must fight against the Sengoku-era warlord, Oda Nobunaga, who has been resurrected in New York.
