Last July, Activision delayed Raven Software's Singularity to the first quarter of 2010 because it didn't want the first-person shooter to get crushed by Activision's other holiday shooter, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. However, the intervening months have seen the first quarter of this year fill out with so many potential hits that it drove Capcom to push three of its own games to later in the year.

Singularity's release date might do as much time travelling as the game's players.

Now there's a chance Singularity will be following Capcom's trio back further on the new release calendar. Listings on the online stores for GameStop and Best Buy indicate the retailers aren't expecting the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC game to arrive until at least June.

GameStop has all three versions of the game slated for shipping on June 1, while Best Buy lists them with a June 22 launch date. The expectation of a delay for Singularity isn't unanimous among retailers, as Amazon.com is listing the game with a March 31 release date.

As of press time, an Activision representative had not returned GameSpot's request for comment. The official Singularity Web site lists the game as launching in the spring.

In Singularity, gamers play as Nate, an air force pilot who, in the early parts of the game, is scrambled to investigate some strange happenings on an island off the coast of Russia. After Nate's plane crashes, players must uncover the mystery of the island while remaining alive in the process. When you toss in a time-travel complication that keeps flipping the setting from 2010 to the 1950s, massive complications ensue.
