Sorry NBA Jam fans, that tweet teasing a sequel was a fake
EA Sports confirms tweet teasing new entry in the over-the-top basketball franchise was "unauthorized."
A tweet from the official NBA Jam Twitter account this week teasing a new entry in the over-the-top basketball series was the result of "unauthorized" use of the account, Electronic Arts has confirmed.
"Yesterday, there was unauthorized use of the @nbajam Twitter handle," an EA representative told Joystiq. "We do not have any announcements to make about NBA Jam at this time."
Interestingly, the tweet in question remains on the NBA Jam Twitter account and has been retweeted nearly 500 times. It's unclear if the account was hacked by an outside party or if the tweet came from an EA Sports developer.
Whatever the case, it doesn't sound like the NBA Jam franchise is coming back anytime soon. EA revived the series in 2010 with NBA Jam before an updated On Fire Edition launched in 2011 alongside versions for iOS and Android devices.
