Spring TGS 2001: Konami shows Silent Hill 2 Xbox

Konami unveils a brief video clip of Silent Hill 2 for the Microsoft Xbox.

Comments

The Xbox version of Silent Hill 2 made its first appearance at the ongoing Tokyo Game Show 2001 Spring. However, the game was shown in video form, which in its entirely ran only a few brief seconds. The Xbox version of Silent Hill 2 is being developed using an entirely new engine that will be optimized specifically for the console. However, the video demo shown looked largely similar in visual quality to the PlayStaiton 2 version of the game. The brief video clip showed the game's lead character, James, speaking with several NPCs, including one of the game's lead female characters, Claire. Interspersed within these conversational scenes were the now familiar sequences that showed a partially decapitated nurse. These portions were previously shown in the PS2 version of the game.

Konami hopes to release Silent Hill 2 for the Japanese launch of the Xbox. A North American release date has not been confirmed at this time.
