Starfield approaches.

Starfield begins its public release tomorrow, August 31, and ahead of that, PC players on Steam can now begin to pre-load the game. Pre-loading was already available for PC Game Pass users, via the Microsoft Store for PC, and on Xbox, but Steam members are now invited to the pre-load party.

Starfield's file size on PC is very big, at 140GB, so being able to pre-load is quite nice for people who want to get into the action as soon as possible.

Now Playing: Starfield Everything to Know

Lead landscape artist Matt Carofano previously discussed why Starfield is so damn big. He said Bethesda games are known for giving players freedom on a grand scale, and the idea is for Starfield to up the ante.

"In every one of our games, we always put so much care into all those little details that breathe life into our worlds. But Starfield isn't just a Bethesda Game Studios world. It's a Bethesda Game Studios galaxy. So why go this big with Starfield? Because we want to give you freedom on a galactic level," Carofano said. "A freedom to experience both the exciting planets and the quiet ones."

Starfield's $70 standard edition is Steam's best-selling game right now, according to the game's public sales page. People picking up the game on PC might want to take a peek at the game's PC specs to see if their computer can run the game.

As for when players can actually begin their journey in Starfield, the game unlocks on August 31 at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET for people who bought the $100 Constellation Edition or the $35 upgrade. Everyone else can get started with Starfield on September 6.

Reviews for Starfield will begin to appear online on August 31, so be sure to keep checking back with GameSpot for lots more coverage of Starfield very soon.
