Now Playing: What Should Be In A Super Mario Bros. Sequel?

The Super Mario Bros. Movie earned more than $1.36 billion worldwide at the box office, making it the 16th highest-grossing movie of all time, ahead of films like Frozen, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

The movie's massive success helped lift Mario game sales, too, Nintendo recently announced in its own earnings briefing.

Given the huge success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, many people are expecting a sequel, which would seem like a simple business decision. No announcement has been made as of yet, though. Nintendo is, however, set to work with Sony Pictures on a live-action Zelda movie.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie features Chris Pratt as Mario, Jack Black as Bowser, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong. There might also be a DK spin-off movie in the works.
